As you know I have been working on Mac Computers for a very long time. I am really good at what I do. I have also seen a lot of Mac problems. (And yes that has not deterred me from using them…. in fact I love them even more). Lately I have discovered a new issue that is popping up on Macs when people come to the Monkey Bar Helpdesk needing quick fixes with their Mac …. this one … Not so quick.
USB Wifi and Keyboard stop working on MacOS Tahoe and later
This is an odd one. Most of the time Mac’s do not have issues with drivers. This is because Apple controls the hardware, software and firmware for the computer. While this sounds frustrating it totally removed Driver issues on Mac computers for Decades. Until now!
At first I thought that this issue was caused by the Open Core Patcher that allows some computers to use a more advanced version of the OS that normally would not run on intel chips. However last week someone brought me their M1 MacBook that had the same issue. This was a total head scratcher.
ways around this problem with the Macbook loosing access to keyboard, touchpad and Wifi
The best way to deal with this is to wipe the computer and start over … If you have a backup. The problem is that if you do not all your data goes bye bye!! So once a gain for the 10000th time please back up your computer.
If you have an Intel Mac with this issue we can get past this by recovering some of the key data but it can be difficult as the system does not want to use USB ports.
I have few other ways around this like target disk mode etc … but those are too complex to talk about here
Android Popups are Back
Just when you thought that it was safe to look at your phone the Popup ads are back and with a vengeance. In an earlier post we talked about how Android phones have full screen popup ads. They are difficult to remove and do not show up on Anti-virus. Pop-up blockers seem to make it worse. Remember when said above where Apple controls the hardware and software …. this is another one of those moments. I say this because I have yet to have this issue on an Apple Phone … only Samsung, Google and other Android Phones.
The problem with the latest round of popup ads is the apps that are causing the trouble are hiding or creating an invisible button that will take you back to the home screen any time you try to uninstall the app.
We have a few ways to get past this… Feel free to drop by the Monkey Bar Help Desk.
Better than driving to Pentith
Wit the issue with the Victoria Pass being closed if you are. traveling to Penrith for a computer issue how about drip by Lithgow instead. Not only are we just as qualified for many computer issues we can do some things that the Apple Store will not. (I can understand their reasons …. I just don’t have such restrictions )
