Citadel Colour is built around a simple system — Base paints for solid coverage, Layer paints for highlights and detail, Contrast paints for one-coat shading and depth, Dry paints for textured edge highlighting, and Sprays for fast, even priming and basecoating. If you’re new to the system, the Warhammer Community blog on Citadel Colour is a great primer on how the ranges work together.

Here’s what just landed in store, colour by colour.

Base Paints

Base paints go down first — heavily pigmented for solid, even coverage in a coat or two.

Abaddon Black — a true, deep black and the go-to undercoat or base for armour, weapons, and shadowed recesses.

Leadbelcher Warhammer Paint Lithgow

Leadbealcher a bright, cool metallic silver perfect for blades, guns, and industrial trim.

creamer Pink Paint for Warhammer models

Screamer Pink — a vivid, saturated pink base ideal for Slaanesh-aligned models or any scheme that needs to pop..

Necron Compound — a cool teal-green base built for Necron dynasties and bio-mechanical colour schemes. Keyword: Necron Compound

Layer Paints

Layer paints sit on top of your base coat, adding highlights, depth, and fine detail.

Fulgrim Pink — a bright highlight pink that pairs beautifully over Screamer Pink for smooth pink-to-white transitions.

Pink Horror — a punchy magenta-pink layer shade, great for Horrors, Slaanesh troops, or bold trim work. Keyword: Pink Horror

Xereus Purple — a rich, mid-tone purple that layers cleanly for robes, armour panels, and Chaos iconography.

Sybarite Green — a clean mid-green layer, useful for Craftworld Aeldari, camouflage, and foliage basing.

Lucius Lilac — a soft, cool lilac layer, perfect for pale skin tones, ghostly effects, or Slaanesh highlights.

Ahriman Blue — a classic mid-blue layer, a staple for Thousand Sons armour and any blue-heavy scheme.

Contrast Paints

Akhelian Green — a deep, oceanic green Contrast paint, brilliant for scales, cloth, and Idoneth Deepkin models.

Warhammer Paint Magos Purple

Magos Purple — a rich, moody purple Contrast paint that adds instant depth to robes, banners, and armour. Keyword: Magos Purple

Contrast paints combine a base tone and a shade in a single coat — apply over a light undercoat and let the recesses do the work.

Dry Paints

Dry paints are formulated for the drybrushing technique, catching raised detail and texture with almost no risk of pooling.

Imrik Blue — a bright drybrushing blue, ideal for picking out scales, icy effects, or raised armour edges.

Spray Paints

Sprays are the fastest way to prime or basecoat an army evenly, straight from the can.

Chaos Black Spray — the essential black undercoat that most hobbyists reach for first, giving every other colour something solid to build on.

Retributor Armour Spray — a rich metallic gold spray basecoat, perfect for getting gilded Adeptus Custodes or ornate trim done fast.
