Warhammer 40K in the Blue Mountains — Without the Drive to Penrith

Stock on hand, paint and hobby supplies, special orders, and Thursday night gaming — all at 85 Main Street, Lithgow. Twenty-six minutes from Blackheath, forty from Katoomba.

If you’ve been driving to Penrith, Sydney, or ordering everything online just to keep your army growing, you can stop. LithGeek is a real, walk-in Warhammer 40K stockist on Main Street in Lithgow, and we’re closer to most of the Blue Mountains than any other hobby shop. Owner Kevin Mason went back to painting minis after a 30-year break and, after finding out how hard it was to get supplies locally, decided to start stocking them himself.

Stock on Hand

We keep the essentials in stock so you’re not waiting on the post for the basics. What’s on the shelf at any given time includes:

Starter & unit boxes

Combat Patrol sets, Necron Warriors, Ork Boyz, and a rotating range of unit boxes across current factions.

Hobby tools

Clippers, files, glue, and the basic kit you need to get a model from sprue to tabletop.

Bases & basing supplies

Bases in common sizes plus texture paints and basing materials to finish a model properly.

Black Library novels

A selected range of Black Library fiction for when you want the lore as well as the models.

Stock changes as new releases land and older kits sell through, so if you’re driving in for something specific, a quick call to 02 6353 1669 before you leave will save you a wasted trip.

Paints & Hobby Supplies

We carry Citadel Colour paints — base, layer, shade, and technical — along with brushes and the hobby tools that go with them. Whether you’re painting your first Space Marine or repainting an army you put down decades ago, you can get what you need without waiting on shipping. If you’re new to painting, ask in store; we’re happy to point you toward a starting palette rather than have you guess.

Special Orders — How They Work

No upfront payment required. If we don’t have the exact kit, paint, or box set you’re after on the shelf, we can order it in directly. Tell us what you need, we place the order, and you pay when it arrives and you’re happy with it. There’s no deposit and no risk to you for asking — being a small local shop means we can afford to be flexible about it.

This is especially useful for anyone in Katoomba, Blackheath, or Springwood who doesn’t want to make the trip on spec. Call ahead, we’ll order it, and you collect it once it’s in — or combine it with a visit on a Thursday night.

Thursday Night Gaming

We stay open until 9pm every Thursday specifically for gaming — the shop clears space for tables, and it becomes the closest thing Lithgow has to a dedicated Warhammer club. It’s free to attend, casual, and open to every experience level. Bring an army and get a game in, bring unpainted models and paint alongside other people, or just come and watch to see what the hobby is actually like before you commit to anything.

Beginners are genuinely welcome — experienced players will walk you through a game from scratch, no judgement about army size, paint job, or how well you know the rules.

Getting Here From Around the Blue Mountains

LithGeek is on the Great Western Highway corridor, which makes it a straightforward drive from most of the upper and mid Blue Mountains. Approximate drive times to 85 Main Street, Lithgow:

Starting point Distance Approx. drive time
Blackheath ~26 km ~26 minutes
Katoomba ~37 km ~40 minutes
Springwood ~67 km ~65 minutes
Lithgow (local) You’re already here

Compare that to the drive to Penrith or Sydney’s western suburbs, and Lithgow is the closer option for anyone west of Springwood — often by a significant margin.

Want the community side of things — first-steps advice, what a Thursday night is actually like, and what to expect if you’ve never played before? Jack Monkey Games has a companion guide to Warhammer in the Blue Mountains written from the player’s side of the table.
