While we can sometimes get a water-damaged device working, we cannot guarantee the outcome — corrosion spreads internally and a device that works today can fail weeks later. Our standard labour charge applies regardless of whether the repair succeeds or not, because the diagnostic time and work involved is the same either way. We always recommend replacing a liquid-damaged device. If you’re unsure, bring it in and we’ll give you an honest assessment at the counter — at no charge if we can assess it without booking it in.

🕰️ A Word on Old & Vintage Tech We love old technology, but we’ll always be straight with you: older devices are often not worth repairing from a cost perspective. Parts are hard to source, labour costs can exceed the device’s value, and reliability after repair is often poor. The main exception is data recovery — if there’s irreplaceable data on an old machine, that changes the equation entirely and we’re happy to help. Otherwise, we’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

💰 $150 Diagnostic Fee If we can assess your device at the counter and tell you on the spot that it’s not fixable or not cost-effective to repair, there is no charge. However, if your device needs to be checked in for a proper diagnosis — opened up, tested, and assessed — a $150 diagnostic fee applies regardless of the outcome. This applies whether the repair goes ahead or not. We’re upfront about this because a thorough diagnosis takes real time, and time is what we’re selling. We’ll always let you know before we proceed.
