How the painting contest works
- Sign up on the day. Add your name to the sign-up sheet at the painting table. Your entry number goes on the bottom of your model.
- Paint your model at the event. All the models come from the same kit. They’re a similar size and the same general theme, so nobody gets an advantage from the model they’re handed. We provide the models and paints. All painting has to be done at the event, and brushes go down at 3pm on Saturday 31 October 2026.
- Models go in the window. After the event, the numbered models are displayed in the front window of Lithgeek at 85 Main Street, Lithgow, until 22 November 2026, where anyone walking past can see them.
- The public votes. Each model gets a photo and its own share link on this page. Voters rank their top 3 in each age group, from 1 November until 22 November.
- Winners announced. After voting closes on 22 November, we total the points and announce the winners for Juniors, Teens and Adults. Each winner gets a prize, and you don’t need to be present to win.
How voting works
Tap your favourite model first, then your second and third. Points are 3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd. To keep it fair, there’s one ballot per device in each age group and a quick human check to keep bots out. Live totals stay hidden until the winners are announced, and we review unusual voting patterns before the results are final.
